Everybody wants something and never gives up
I realised recently how formative Degrassi Junior/High was on my growing brain. Like that horrorific AIDS grim reaper advert or the Don’t Be A Wally With Water adverts, the messages I heard from degrassi have stayed with me.
Like you can’t get AIDS from sitting on the same seat as someone, but you can get it from having sex for the first time with some girl in your summer break. My mum...

triple-A outsider geek
Wow, just read a great article on Julian Assange by Bruce Sterling.
While others stare in awe at Assange’s many otherworldly aspects — his hairstyle, his neatness, his too-precise speech, his post-national life out of a laptop bag — I can recognize him as pure triple-A outsider geek. Man, I know a thousand modern weirdos like that, and every single one of them seems to be on my Twitter stream...

Naomi Wolf vs. Jaclyn Friedman: Feminists Debate the Sexual Allegations Against Julian Assange
.
Two really intelligent women debating the allegations against Julian Assange. Both of these women have swayed too far on either side of the argument for my liking, but it’s a really interesting debate. My brain hurts.

Nicola Briggs, we salute you
Nicola Briggs made my day life when I first saw the video of her confronting a man who was sexually harassing her on a new york train.
While I don’t know a woman who hasn’t been in this situation, I know very few who have reported it, or even said anything about it. The whole thing is often so affronting and scary that most girls respond by removing themselves from the situation-...

Podcast, tea and avocado on toast
Soundtrack to my Sunday afternoon is my favourite bookish babes Lorelei, Estelle and Anna K. talking about F Scott Fitzgerald.
Perfect Sunday listening.

Today the Guardian has published an article detailing the allegations against Julian Assange.
Very interesting reading. GET ON IT.
Wikirebels the documentary →
Interesting doco about the background to wikileaks. Fills in a lot of the gaps about the organisation’s formation and growth.
Definitely worth a watch, if not for the content, just for the amazing hair transformations Julian Assange makes over the filming. Bitch is like Lindsay Lohan with his changing mane.

Wikileaks is a feminist issue?
So wikileaks has set my life on fire. I can’t think of a time in recent years that I’ve been moved to buy a newspaper and then curse its uselessness. Bless.
In fact, blogger Matt Cornell kinda summed it up with a tweet claiming: “#cablegate is “The Wire” of news events.
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
The lovable/hateable nerds on 4chan have mobilised and started to...
Just a quick word
The world is moving too fast for blog posts but just quickly before I return to work can we all just appreciate the new revelation:
Mark Arbib a CIA Operative?
LOL. Best leak yet.

Breaking the news
I just read on the Guardian website that Julian Assange was arrested. The Age website is running a lead story of two old cricket stars (?) “thumping each other” at the Ashes.
If Wikileaks didn’t prove The Age newspaper irrelevant with their content, the paper’s pathetic coverage of wikileaks finished the job.
The incompetency of The Age is old news, but the recent...

Bob Carr does book reviews now? Happy to not be swayed by his review of a review of Jonathan Franzen’s Freedom.
Also, “frogmarched” is a word?
